ConfirmationBias

Where pre-conceived notions and beliefs affect the current decision irrationally. Information is not processed neutrally.

Another example: if the goal post is allowed to move after receiving the information, then confirmation bias can distort the path to the correct decision.

One of the best antidotes to ConfirmationBias is to set the decision criteria in advance of receiving the information, and consciously monitor it. See Notes on Decision Intelligence.
