This post is superseded by a later post where I mention that I use the modus themes. And still do as of [2023-12-17 Sun]
After yet another repeated foray into some darker Emacs themes, I settled back on using the excellent Leuven theme. I recall reading articles that were circulating awhile ago when Apple released their dark mode for 'enhanced productivity' on the Mac OS and the research indicated that the black text on a whitish background offers the best contrast and makes it easier for the brain to digest things. Well, I need all the help that I can get - So I'm going to stick to Leuven.
Nevertheless, there are tempting dark themes out there. Darkokai and Zenburn are interesting themes to say the least. I've spent considerable time using these themes as well in the past. For what it is worth - this also depends on your screen and ambience brightness and perhaps mood as well. It is good to have a bunch of themes ready for such occasions rather than shop around too much.
